Poor Maneki has come down with a case of diarrhea, and I realized I didint know what to do for him to make him feel better! So I did a little research to find out what the appropriate action should be. This is what I found out:

***

Diarrhea can be caused by viruses, a change in diet, eating ‘people food‘, and major stress. Think back about a week and see if you can determine what might of happened to your kitty. Check to see if he is showing any other symptoms. Diarrhea can last a few days and it is okay as long as your cat doesn’t show other symptoms and he is drinking water.

Avoid milk! Milk GIVES cats diarrhea because it is hard for them to digest. Avoid medication unless directed by the vet!

Provide plenty of fresh water. Diarrhea can easily dehydrate your kitty so make sure he has plenty to drink. Dehydration is the largest risk. While your cat may become dehydrated excessive drinking could be a symptom of diabetes. Be careful about switching around your cats food but you might want to try something very PLAIN like boiled rice, boiled chicken, or chicken broth. Meet flavored Baby food could work too. Avoid dairy. You can try fasting your cat for 24 hours to help the digestive system settle down and clear out. Just make sure there is always water available.

Visit your vet if severe symptoms last more then 24 hours. Especially if there are other symptoms involved like vomiting, fever, pain, or dark colored blood in stool. This could mean a more serious problem. Bring a stool sample with you.

***

In Maneki's case I am assuming he found some people food and he does seem to be lethargic. I have given him plenty of fresh watter and made his cat box nice and clean. I even removed the hood so it ultimately fresh! I already gave him his dinner but I may give his less for breakfast to make it easier for his digestion. Get well soon Maneki!

P.S. We have begun to volunteer once a week down at the animal shelter. Tomorrow we are scheduled for some kitty play time and doggy walking! I still need to post the photos I took from our last visit! ^^

Say NO to Crush Videos: SUPPORT H.R. 5092!!!

A new bill was been introduced on 4/21/2010 in the House by Rep. Elton Gallegly to ban the sale of “crush” pornography witch depicts the killing and torturing of small defenseless animals.

It hard to imagine that this bill will not pass but to make sure I want to do my part is seeing that it does not! I hope anyone who reads this will too!

You can contact your congressional representatives asking them to support H.R. 5092.

You can also sign Care2’s (website promoting green living) petition to urge Congress to outlaw videos of Animal Cruelty.

Jun. 16th, 2010 - Papers

Today me and Eric visited our animal shelter and picked up the information and applications to become a volunteer and foster home! We also spend a little time with the cats who are currently there. They are all really friendly and healthy!

They said they could use help rite now with kittens but we probably wont be fostering yet because we still need to get our current cats additional shots before we bring in new acquaintances. However we are now available to volunteer time on our weekend! :3 We will probably start out with stuff like playing with the cats outside of their cages for exercise and playing/walking the doggys!

I would like to finish setting up the Lucky Cat website soon and get it officially open! I thought it would be really cool to release it on National Cat Day (witch is October 29 btw) but I have the feeling it will be ready to go much sooner. I need to finish coding the main page, add info/photo to the About Us and Contact page, code the Adopt page, and code the Info/Care page.

I will be adding helpful information on the info/care page over time. I recently learned onions are very dangerous for cats so I am researching about that and other foods cats need to avoid. I will post my findings on the site when its ready! :)

Dec. 27th, 2009 - The beginning

Hi everyone! I got the blog/Twitter/update monstrosity sorted out so I figured I better make a update on just what the heck is going on here!

Me and my boyfriend have been thinking about fostering cats for a while but never had the extra room. We are planning on moving next month into a bigger place so having a foster home is finally looking like an option!

Three days ago I decided to start looking for a website so we can have a 'online base'. It can take a long time to prepare a website so I wanted to start early. I didnt have to search long before I found one at http://csstemplatesmarket.com/

This is the one I picked if your curious on how it looked before I got my hands on it! http://csstemplatesmarket.com/freecsstemplates/dally_studio/

I have been working a lot on customizing the website. I named it Lucky Cat and designed the logo and have even started the Zazzle gift shop! There is still lots to do before it is all ready for the grand opening. Ill be posting updates as I go! :)
